I have had that exact camera and lens for over 6 years, and to this day, cannot take anything even close to your photos. I wish I knew how you did this. Stunning photos. By the way, anything that you may consider bad, is probably a lot better than even my best would be.

I've got to smile every time you talk about it being remote. From my perspective as a Scot, I avoid the WHW area because it's too busy and close to civilisation! I'm off to Knoydart next week, now that's remote! Glad you are enjoying the hike.

I’ve just picked up a D200 with only 8k SA’s. My other camera is a Sony A7iii. The reason for the D200 is that it’s a cheap camera (£89) that I don’t mind getting damaged/stolen etc… The thing is, like people here are commenting, is that there is something about the photos I’m getting from my D200 that I just can’t explain. Any subject or scene I take a photo of is just “mmmmmm”. It’s like writing your name in biro on a banana skin or on the sole of a slipper. It’s just nice. The a7iii focuses like a madman, very sharp and good colour rendition but the photos, although amazing, are just too good. That has to make sense in some way? The D200 has dedicated buttons for iso, wb, quality, exposure, dials for focus area, metering, shutter drive mode. It’s all there, outside the menus. The Sony is more menu driven and takes a few more button presses to get there. The one thing I do miss on the D200 is the tilt-able screen. If there’s a cheeky flower down at toe level, I’m getting my knees dirty to get the shot. Oh, and I suppose eye focusing is missed too.

You messed up the title Nigel. Is supposed to be "It can't get better than this" 😅🤪. From the times I used to live on my sailboat... I learned not to say anymore "What could go wrong ?" or "It can't get worst than this" 😅😅😅 especially during storms haha. Have a fantastic weekend. The van is coming out well. 👏

I found a photo pills app but it was more about moon and sun positioning than doff. $20 didn’t want to download incase it was wrong app

Save the headaches, get an OEM window. I build vans, it's way easier.

This is so helpful. Not only is it good to articulate why something works well but also the act of writing it down helps with remembering each point. That in turn helps you to note these points when you are out in the field composing your shot. Simple but very effective.

You didn't paint the edge of the steel you cut. It will rust and over time could appear outside past your frame. I guess it depends on how long you're planning on owning the van.

I cringe every time I see you cutting into the van. But so far so good! Thanks for taking us on a detailed trip of you van modification. Personally I would never do it. By the time I got done, I would have to take my van to the junkyard. 😂😂😂😂

Great update and love the thought you put into everything... and I dont want to be that guy that says I told you so but I did tell you so 😂 last vid I mentioned you need to cut the tip to make a wider nozzle..hiccups, blood sweat and tears along the way as always with such a mammoth project but this will be an awesome van for years to come.

I have a dream: once you’ve finished your van, please make a video or a series even better, with Tomas Heaton, each one in its own van, touring Scotland or Ireland or wherever you want… it couldn’t get any better than that!

You could name it: 1. The Grey Whale; or paint it black and white and name it 2. Orca!

To cover the hole just buy a cheap sheet of aluminium or plastic and silicon it on outside. Cut it free after and use a plastic scraper to remove cured silicon. If you are worried about damage just rivet the covering sheet with some holding brackets and use a window putty to seal the sheet from rain leaks. Dont make the issue overly complicated with CAD drawings and 3D printing etc.

Can I suggest you throw away that electric caulk gun! they are rubbish. Just get a cheap hand one and then snip a bigger tip of silicon/glue/caulk

Some mention of 'Explore Mode' and digital zoom would have been good. Also when mentioning Pano there can be an assumption that this makes use of DJI Pano modes as opposed to LR Image stitching. Great pics and location!

Better late then never, I have a concern that over time moisture will condensate on the metal and rot the woos. A finish to mitigate that senario would be a good idea on the wood bits.

Oh Nigel, you are so funny. For the templates, you can also rub dressmakers chalk on the window rim, then place the window on the template material to create an exact replica. This is a super awesome project you are doing. You should be super proud of yourself. See you in the next video. Keep having fun! :)

Hi Nigel, great video indeed. I'm a newbie at printing photos, and I was able to follow along until you got to the PRINTER screen at the bottom of the Print module, I have the PRO-1000, and my options are different from the ones you showed in the video. Maybe because you are printing to the PRO-2000??? and the driver is different??? For example for Paper Type you have several option, I only have Photo and Plain Paper, so there is no way to match the Lustre paper I'm using...In any case, thank you for the video. It has been of great help.
